The exhibition focuses on themes of domesticity, cultural identity, and female resilience from the perspective of Bengali women’s lived experiences.
Through self-portraiture and symbolic imagery, Urmi Roy’s work reflects on the often unseen emotional and physical labour carried out by women within the private sphere. By drawing from her own experiences and broader collective narratives, the exhibition invites viewers to consider the intersections of gender, tradition and power. Combining traditional printmaking and acrylic mix media, Roy creates evocative works that give voice to the silenced and highlight the strength embedded in everyday acts of survival and care.

ARTIST
Urmi Roy is a Bangladeshi visual artist whose practice engages with the lived experiences and cultural identities of Bengali women. Trained in traditional printmaking at the University of Dhaka and currently based in Cambridge, UK, Roy explores themes of domesticity, social roles and female subjectivity through self-portraiture and symbolic representations of the female body.
CURATORS
Meng Hao is a curator and musician from Xi’an, China. She has participated in music TV programmes and won several awards in the field.
Yifan Wu is an artist and curator from Jiangsu Province, China. She is skilled in oil painting, with a background in design and art.
Jiarong Zhou is an independent artist and curator from China who is committed to amplifying diverse voices in her artistic and curatorial practices.
